GSA Foundation Bursaries

GSA are offering up to 8 bursaries of £5,000 (fee reduction, not a cash award) to students who enrol upon the Foundation in Musical Theatre and Foundation in Acting programmes for the 2022-23 academic year.

These Bursaries are being offered to those who might not otherwise be able to participate in a programme of study at GSA, to support those from either economically disadvantaged or under-represented groups in Higher Education. 

To apply:

  1. Applicants must first apply for the Foundation in Musical Theatre or Foundation in Acting programme.
  2. Applicants to the programmes will be required to audition and demonstrate that they have the potential to benefit from the training that the Foundation in Musical Theatre or Foundation in Acting programmes offer. Information on this process will be sent directly to applicants.
  3. All applicants will be sent a link to apply for a bursary – you do not need to request this.

Dawn Sturgess Bursary

Dancing Ledge Productions and Wiltshire Creative have partnered to launch a bursary in honour and memory of Dawn Sturgess.

The Dawn Sturgess Bursary will provide one budding Drama School student with up to £30,000 towards their living costs while studying acting. That’s £10,000 a year for 3 years.

This bursary is open to permanent residents of Wiltshire, aged between 18 – 25 years old, who have applied for our GSA BA Acting programme.

ATG Scholarships 2022-23

  • Successful new applicants to the BA Actor-Musician, BA Musical Theatre and BA Theatre Production programmes will be eligible to apply for one of two ATG Scholarships each worth £5,000. Scholarships are awarded on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Students who apply for the Scholarship will be required to complete an online application form; shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview/audition with a selection panel.

The Doris and Hilda Farmer Charitable Trust Bursaries 2022-23

  • All students at GSA are eligible to apply for one of 10 £1,000 bursaries for the 2022-23 academic year. All eligible students, both new and returning for the 2022-23 academic year will be invited to submit an application. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of need.

This Scholarship is funded by the Doris and Hilda Farmer Charitable Trust.

Applications open on 19th August 2022 and will close on 12th September 2022.

 

The Mary Woolfe Charitable Trust Bursaries 2022-23

  • All students at GSA are eligible to apply for one of 20 £1,000 bursaries for the 2022-23 academic year. All eligible students, both new and returning for the 2022-23 academic year will be invited to submit an application. Bursaries will be awarded on the basis of need. 

This Scholarship is funded by the Mary Woolfe Charitable Trust.

Applications open on 19th August 2022 and will close on 12th September 2022.

 

Ray Cook MA Musical Theatre Bursary 2022-23

Students who have accepted a place on the MA Musical Theatre programme, entering their first year of study in 2022-23, are invited to apply for a Bursary of £1,000 for the 2022-23 academic year. 

Bursaries are awarded on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Students will be invited to apply via an online application form on which they will be asked to include a personal statement outlining their personal circumstances and how a bursary would benefit them. 

This bursary is funded in memory of Ray Cook, musical director, composer, conductor, pianist and arranger for many years in numerous West End shows and composer of several notable film scores.  

Applications open on 19th August 2022 and will close on 12th September 2022.

 

South Square Trust Scholarships 2022-23

  • GSA students in their first or second year on the BA Acting, BA Actor-Musician and BA Musical Theatre programmes will be eligible to apply for a South Square Trust Scholarship. Several scholarships are awarded to applicants on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Students who apply for a Scholarship will be required to submit a case for support and participate in an audition and interview. First year students will be invited to apply and will be sent full details at that time.

McGrath Charitable Trust Scholarships 2022-23

  • GSA students in their first or second year on the BA Acting, BA Actor-Musician and BA Musical Theatre programmes will be eligible to apply for a McGrath Charitable Trust Scholarship.  Several scholarship are awarded to applicants on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Students who apply for a Scholarship will be required to submit a case for support and participate in an audition and interview. First year students will be invited to apply and will be sent full details at that time.

  • GSA students in their first or second year on the BA Acting, BA Actor-Musician and BA Musical Theatre programmes will be eligible to apply for a Sir Michael Redgrave Charitable Trust Scholarship. Several scholarship are awarded to applicants on a combined basis of merit and financial need. Students who apply for a Scholarship will be required to submit a case for support and participate in an audition and interview. First year students will be invited to apply and will be sent full details at that time.

These Bursaries are funded by the Sir Michael Redgrave Trust fund.
